College

Native Indigenous Initiatives Consultant

Native Indigenous Initiatives (NII) has a long history at Pitzer College. The College seeks to build on this foundational work in reassessing the structure and nature of College academic programming related to NII so as to effectively meet current and anticipated needs, expand positive impact, and establish sustainability. To this end, Pitzer College is seeking a short-term, six-month experienced consultant to begin as soon as possible to help create a blueprint for College academic efforts related to Native Indigenous Peoples and issues, including conducting outreach and devising strategies for strengthening Pitzer’s institutional relationships with multiple tribes in the region. The consultant will be responsible for collecting and synthesizing information, developing actionable recommendations, and providing the outline for a draft implementation plan for future NII work within Pitzer College’s Division of Academic Affairs. As part of this work, the consultant will be the primary point person for the collection of information and feedback from relevant constituencies within and outside of the College. In addition, the College has committed to future staff with NII responsibility, and the consultant will assist in developing position description(s) in line with different recommendation scenarios. The consultant will be supported by and closely collaborate with a small working group that includes directors of departments/programs in Academic Affairs. The consultant will provide a series of deliverables to Pitzer’s Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), including a final report with recommendations and draft position descriptions. This is not an employment opportunity, hourly or ongoing position, nor will the consultant be eligible for Pitzer College benefits.

The cover letter, work plan, and proposed payments and payment schedule should be submitted via email (with attachments as needed) to tricia_morgan@pitzer.edu with subject line: Native Initiatives Consultant.

For full consideration, these materials should be received no later than COB on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Review of complete submissions will commence after that date and continue until a consultant contract is awarded.
